The Sky Over Budapest – Focus on Wim Wenders
Introduction by: Rita Boronyák, Researcher-Archivist, NFI – Film Archive
In 1982, during the Cannes Film Festival, Wim Wenders rented room 666 of Martinez Hotel in order to shoot a documentary about how fellow filmmakers saw the situation of film art. About 40 years later, Lubna Playoust did the same thing in room 999. The authors interviewed were given around 10 minutes to give their opinion. In 1982, among those answering questions were Godard, Fassbinder, Herzog, Spielberg and Antonioni. In 2023, Cronenberg, Farhadi, Luhrmann, Östlund, Sorrentino, and Wenders himself shared their views.
